7 Injured in Karachi Hospital Blast

At least seven individuals, including a two-year-old child, sustained burn injuries in an explosion at a hospital in Karachi on Sunday. The incident occurred within the emergency ward of the Sindh Government Hospital located in Liaquatabad.

Rescue officials reported that the blast led to a rapid spread of fire throughout the ward. The hospital administrator confirmed the injuries, stating that seven individuals, including the child, were affected by the explosion.

Upon receiving the alert, rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the fire. Dr. Attique, the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, declared an emergency and initiated the relocation of medical staff and patients to a safer area.

Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori requested a detailed report from the hospital’s MS regarding the explosion and extended his prayers for the swift recovery of the injured. Similarly, Caretaker Sindh Health Minister Dr. Khalid Niaz demanded a report on the incident and instructed authorities to ensure the provision of optimal medical care to the injured individuals.

According to the bomb disposal squad’s assessment, the explosion originated from a refrigerator compressor in the emergency department’s storeroom, caused by a short circuit. The report indicated that while the explosion resulted in minor damage, it led to injuries to a few individuals.
