Azam Khan, Pakistan’s power-hitting wicketkeeper-batter, shared insights into his decision to join Islamabad United in a recent media interview, highlighting how the change of PSL franchise has elevated his T20 cricket game.
Despite facing criticism and constant reminders from former cricketers to improve his weight and fitness to meet international standards, Azam Khan expressed gratitude towards Islamabad United. He commended the franchise for utilizing his strengths in the right role rather than solely focusing on his weight.

While acknowledging the selectors’ discretion regarding his potential inclusion in the World Cup squad, Azam emphasized that his primary focus remains on delivering strong performances on the field. He credited Islamabad United for positively impacting his life and emphasized his commitment to staying focused on the present.
Reflecting on his performance against Peshawar Zalmi, Azam expressed regret for not finishing the game and highlighted the challenge of achieving a T20 century from his current batting position. He suggested that batting up the order would provide him with the opportunity to score a century with more deliveries to spare.
Azam also lauded his teammate, pacer Obaid Shah, acknowledging his exceptional skill at a young age and predicting a promising future for him.
Discussing his game plan, Azam revealed his strategy of targeting the opposition’s best bowler to unsettle their bowling unit. By taking the initiative to attack the main bowler, he aims to put pressure on the entire opposition.
