"Best Power Hitting Batter in Pakistan": Azam Khan Asserts

Islamabad United wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan has boldly proclaimed himself as the best power-hitting batter in Pakistan following his stellar performance against Peshawar Zalmi, where he smashed 75 runs off just 30 balls at the Gaddafi Stadium.

The 25-year-old cricketer has expressed confidence in his abilities, asserting that he is the top middle-order batter in the country. He highlighted his impressive statistics, noting that he is among the twelve batters in T20 cricket over the last four years with an average of 25.00 and a strike rate above 145.00.

Speaking to a social media platform, Islamabad United’s power hitter stated, “There’s no one close to my batting numbers at the No.5 and No.6 positions in Pakistan.”

Among the list of twelve batters with comparable statistics are renowned players such as Tim David, Glenn Phillips, Glenn Maxwell, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Harry Brook, Suryakumar Yadav, Marcus Stoinis, Liam Livingstone, and Heinrich Klaasen.

Azam Khan, son of the legendary cricketer Moin Khan who led Pakistan to victory in the 1992 World Cup, has experienced three comebacks in the international setup over the past five years. However, he expressed frustration at not being given a sustained opportunity in Pakistan’s T20 squad. He emphasized that if provided with an extended run, he would accept being dropped if he fails to perform, opting to prove his worth through domestic cricket and various leagues.

While Azam Khan acknowledged the lucrative opportunities available in T20 leagues worldwide, he underscored his determination to earn a place in the Pakistan team through consistent performances. His ultimate goal remains representing his country at the highest level, prioritizing national pride over financial gain.
