In response to the recent decline in diesel prices, the Pakistan Railways Department has announced a significant reduction in train fares across various classes, effective immediately. This fare reduction applies to train journeys ranging from one to 200 kilometers, benefitting passengers travelling shorter distances, with the most notable reductions seen in the economy and AC classes.
Key Highlights of the Fare Reduction:
- Economy Class:
Fares on certain routes have been reduced by up to 54%.
Example: The minimum fare for the economy class on the Lahore to Rawalpindi route has decreased from Rs. 250 to Rs. 100.
Example: The economy class fare for the Khyber Mail, covering distances from 1 km to 130 km, has also been reduced from Rs. 250 to Rs. 100.

Passengers travelling in AC class will enjoy a fare reduction of 40% across various routes.
