'Bad Boys: Ride or Die' Crosses $100 Million Mark In Debut Weekend

In its opening weekend, ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ achieved a significant global box office milestone, surpassing $100 million, as reported. The fourth installment in Sony’s beloved buddy cop comedy series, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, grossed $104.6 million worldwide, with international markets contributing $48.6 million.

Despite initial concerns following Will Smith’s controversial incident at the 2022 Oscars, audiences eagerly embraced his return to the big screen, particularly with a franchise spanning over three decades. Sony allocated $100 million to the production costs of ‘Bad Boys 4,’ along with substantial marketing expenses to attract viewers globally.

The film’s strong debut indicates promising prospects for its theatrical run, though its ultimate success compared to the previous installment, ‘Bad Boys for Life,’ which earned $206 million domestically and $426 million globally in 2020, remains uncertain.

Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, ‘Ride or Die’ follows detectives Mike and Marcus as they uncover corruption within the Miami Police Department. Becoming fugitives after a setup, the duo must operate outside the law to crack the case. Will Smith also served as a producer alongside Jerry Bruckheimer, who was involved in the franchise’s preceding three films.
