Firebrand Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat, known for his controversial remarks that caused turmoil within Imran Khan’s party, has been suspended from PTI.
The decision to suspend Sher Afzal Marwat came after a meeting between imprisoned party founder Imran Khan and top PTI leaders at Adiala Jail on Thursday. Sher Afzal Marwat’s repeated violations of party discipline, including critical statements against party leaders over the past month, led to his suspension.

Earlier, PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan, acting on Imran Khan’s directives, had removed Marwat from PTI’s core and political committees after he made contentious remarks about Saudi Arabia’s alleged involvement in Imran Khan’s removal from power. Marwat implicated other countries in conspiring against the PTI government, prompting PTI to publicly distance itself from his statements, which he claimed were personal opinions.
The outspoken politician also criticized senior party members, accusing them of denying him the chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee. Marwat alleged that Senate opposition leader Shibli Faraz had conveyed concerns from the Saudi ambassador to Imran Khan regarding his nomination for the crucial parliamentary committee.
Despite PTI’s efforts to manage internal dissent, Marwat remained defiant, standing by his remarks while facing disciplinary actions from the party leadership.
