Western Türkiye Wildfire Claims Three Lives

A wildfire that began on Monday in Türkiye’s western province of Izmir has claimed three lives, according to local media.

NTV broadcaster reported that the fire started under unknown circumstances in Cesme, a resort town in Izmir. Due to windy conditions, the fire spread rapidly, prompting the evacuation of residents in affected areas.

During the evacuation, two families split into groups to escape the flames. Emergency teams rescued one group, but three individuals from the other group—a man, a woman, and a child—were found dead.

Firefighting teams are working to control the blaze with ground and aerial resources, and the cause of the fire is under investigation, NTV added.
