KP Govt Reduces Tobacco Development Cess Following Protests By Farmers

In response to farmers’ protests, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to eliminate the Provincial Tobacco Development cess entirely.

Initially set at Rs50 per kilogram for Virginia tobacco and Rs30 for other types, the tax will now be Rs25 per kilogram for Virginia tobacco and Rs15 per kilogram for other varieties.

The Finance Amendment Bill reflecting these changes was introduced in the Provincial Assembly on Tuesday.
