French authorities have charged Telegram CEO Pavel Durov with crimes including complicity in distributing child pornography, illegal drugs, and hacking software. Durov is also accused of not cooperating with investigations into illegal activities on Telegram.
Released on โฌ5 million bail, Durov is barred from leaving France and must report to a police station twice a week. The investigation, which could take months or years, focuses on Telegramโs alleged involvement in criminal activities.

Durov, detained last Saturday at a Paris airport, is subject to court monitoring. Telegram has defended him, calling the charges โabsurdโ and stating he shouldnโt be held responsible for user actions.
