WhatsApp is set to roll out a new feature that will allow users to customize chat bubble colors and backgrounds for individual conversations, taking a step closer to Telegram’s customization options. While WhatsApp has previously offered chat themes, this upcoming update will enhance personalization capabilities significantly.
Currently, the chat-specific themes are being tested in the Android beta version of WhatsApp, indicating that a stable release is likely on the horizon. Although most users won’t have immediate access, previews of the feature suggest a broader rollout could occur in the coming months.

WhatsApp will offer a variety of customization options, including 20 different colors and over 22 textured themes. Users can apply a theme, which will automatically select a matching message color, and further personalize their chats with unique wallpapers. Notably, these themes are private, allowing each participant to customize their chat view independently, unlike Facebook Messenger.
While an official release date for the wider audience is still unclear, users can look forward to enhanced customization features that mirror those found in other popular messaging apps. Stay tuned for more updates.
