Shankar’s comments, made at a Hindu Makkal Katchi event in Tamil Nadu, sparked widespread backlash. While she later apologized, stating her intent was not to offend, the court deemed her remarks hate speech and criticized her apology as inadequate.
Known for her acting career and political affiliations, Shankar recently campaigned for the BJP during the 2024 general elections.
