Secretary of Education Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani announced that teacher training for the program will begin within 10 days, and Grade 6 students will be eligible to join.
He also mentioned plans to expand the initiative to more colleges by the 2026-27 academic year. The program will remain free of charge until students take their O-level exams, with textbooks also provided at no cost.
An MoU has been signed with Cambridge University Press and Assessment to support the initiative. Rod Smith, Group Managing Director of Cambridge International Education, attended the ceremony, reaffirming Cambridge’s commitment to quality education in Pakistan.
The selected institutions include Islamabad Model Colleges for Boys and Girls in sectors F-6/2, G-6/3, F-8/1, and F-8/3. The local education system will continue alongside the Cambridge curriculum, and officials expect students from private schools to consider transferring to these government institutions for internationally recognized qualifications.
