Kurram Tragedy: Death Toll from Gunfire Attack Rises to 42

A tragic incident occurred in Kurram’s Dadkamar Bagan area, where gunfire targeting vehicles led to the deaths of 42 individuals, as reported by police. The victims include five children and seven women, while 13 others are being treated for their injuries.

Among those killed was local journalist Jinan Hussain, who succumbed to his bullet wounds. The deceased will be buried in their ancestral graveyards after funeral prayers. In the aftermath, residents staged a protest at Alamdar Chowk, condemning the attack and calling for justice.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the assault as the community grapples with this heartbreaking loss.

In other related news, 39 people were killed and 28 injured in a separate attack on passenger vans in Kurram, while the region’s Parachinar area saw guns fall silent after 49 deaths in recent violence.

Earlier in July, deadly clashes over a land dispute between two tribes in the Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa resulted in six days of intense fighting, which ended after security forces intervened. The Deputy Commissioner of Kurram stated that security personnel have been deployed after clearing the conflict zones.

The Parachinar-Peshawar highway remains closed to traffic for the seventh consecutive day, causing inconvenience for farmers, travelers, and traders. Despite heavy police and security force presence, life remains disrupted in the region, with tensions still high.

According to police, the death toll from the six-day clashes has reached 49, with over 200 people injured. Reports indicate that 14 additional deaths occurred on Monday, increasing the overall toll to 49.
