GTA 6 Wins 'Most Wanted Game' Award

Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) has clinched the prestigious Most Wanted Game award at the 2024 Golden Joystick Awards, solidifying its status as one of the most highly anticipated titles in the gaming world. With its release window scheduled for Fall 2025, this victory comes as no surprise, given the immense demand and excitement surrounding the next chapter of the iconic Grand Theft Auto series.

During the ceremony, David Manley, Rockstar’s Publishing Director, accepted the award on behalf of the development team. He expressed gratitude to the fans for their continued support, while also teasing that GTA 6 will exceed all expectations, promising “mind-blowing things” from the game. He added, “There’s an incredible amount of people doing amazing things on Grand Theft Auto 6. It’s an honor to accept this award, and we can’t wait to share more.”

GTA 6 triumphed over several fierce competitors in the Most Wanted Game category, including titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Death Stranding 2, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Mafia: The Old Country. This category, often one of the most fiercely contested, showcases the games that players are most eager to see released in the future.

As Rockstar continues to develop GTA 6, their hints about “mind-blowing things” only intensify anticipation for what promises to be a groundbreaking addition to the open-world gameplay and storytelling genres.

In addition to GTA 6‘s win, the night saw Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth sweep four awards, including Best Storytelling and Best Soundtrack, while Helldivers 2 earned three awards, including Best Multiplayer Game and Best Game Trailer. Black Myth: Wukong, an indie title from the debut developer Game Science, won the coveted Ultimate Game of the Year award, marking a major achievement for the studio.

The excitement surrounding GTA 6 continues to build, especially with the recent trailer release in December 2023, which shattered viewership records on YouTube and reignited excitement for the game. In a financial update, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick reassured fans that the game’s release is still set for Fall 2025, dispelling rumors of a delay until 2026. He also addressed speculation about the role of AI in speeding up development, clarifying that while AI tools can improve efficiency, they won’t drastically change production timelines or reduce costs. Instead, AI is helping creative teams focus on innovation by handling more routine tasks.

Despite challenges like actor strikes and global disruptions, GTA 6 remains one of the most eagerly anticipated releases, with fans eagerly dissecting every teaser and trailer for any clues about the game’s features. Rockstar has kept details tightly under wraps since the 2022 leaks, implementing enhanced security measures to prevent further breaches.

As the Fall 2025 release approaches, the hype around GTA 6 continues to grow, with Rockstar’s hints about the game’s groundbreaking innovations leaving fans excited to see how the next chapter in the Grand Theft Auto saga will unfold.
