The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a notice to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in response to a contempt of court petition, following allegations that the party violated a court order by holding protests in Islamabad. The petition was filed by a traders’ organization from Sector F-7, which claimed that thousands of protesters, mainly from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, entered the capital despite a clear directive from the court against such protests. The traders’ group further alleged that the goal of these protests was to forcibly free PTI founder Imran Khan from jail.
The petitioners also accused the government and local administration of failing to ensure law and order during the protests. They argued that the authorities did not act to prevent the violation of the court’s orders and called on the IHC to take contempt action against PTI and hold the responsible officials accountable for their failure to enforce judicial directives.

In addition to the PTI, the IHC has issued notices to key government officials, including the interior secretary, chief commissioner, deputy commissioner, and the inspector general (IG) of Islamabad police. The court has directed these officials to provide their responses during the next hearing, scheduled for the coming week.
The case highlights the growing tensions between the PTI and the government, with the traders’ organization seeking legal action against the party for defying court orders. The IHC’s decision to issue notices to both the PTI and the concerned officials underscores the court’s intention to hold accountable those responsible for the disruption in Islamabad and the alleged violation of its rulings.
