Instagram has launched a new Trial Reels feature designed to help content creators experiment with fresh ideas without the risk of alienating their loyal followers. This feature allows creators to show their content to non-followers first, gathering valuable insights and engagement data before deciding whether to share it with their established audience.
Trial Reels offer creators the freedom to explore new formats, genres, and storytelling techniques in a safe space. These reels do not appear on the creator’s main profile or feed and are exclusively shown to non-followers. Creators can later choose whether to share the content with their followers based on the engagement metrics, which become available after 24 hours of posting.

The feature was introduced in response to feedback from creators who often feel hesitant to experiment, fearing negative reactions from their existing audience. Instagram aims to provide a supportive environment where creators can innovate confidently.
Trial Reels are currently rolling out globally and will be available to all eligible creators in the coming weeks. This feature follows Instagram’s DM scheduling update, designed to help users plan and schedule messages in advance for more efficient communication.
