The police confirmed that the robbers fled without taking anything, capitalizing on the absence of police presence in the area. Fahad’s body was taken to Jinnah Hospital, where his family has gathered, demanding justice for his untimely death in yet another violent incident in the city.

The police have assured the family that action will be taken swiftly and are actively investigating the case. While several CCTV recordings have been collected, the footage’s clarity is limited due to the distance at which the incident was captured. Efforts are underway to acquire clearer footage to better identify the suspects, who were riding motorcycles.

Authorities have pledged to identify and apprehend the culprits to ensure justice for Fahad.

The alarming rise in crime in Karachi is evident, with 110 people having been killed this year while resisting robberies. This comes amid a surge in street crimes, with over 44,000 reported incidents in the first seven months of 2024 alone.

Data from Karachi’s local police shows that motorcycles are the most common target, with over 31,000 stolen or snatched during this period. Additionally, over 11,800 mobile phones were snatched, and approximately 1,200 cars were taken. Despite these high numbers, the recovery rate remains low, with only 1,500 motorcycles, 220 cars, and 120 mobile phones recovered by the police.
