The plant, located at Dominion Energy’s James River Industrial Complex, will use a tokamak machine with powerful magnets to sustain the fusion reaction. CFS assures the process is safe, halting automatically if exposed to air.

Governor Glenn Youngkin emphasized the project’s economic benefits, including hundreds of jobs, without burdening Dominion ratepayers. Chesterfield County has pledged $10 million for advancements, seeing this as a pivotal step in clean energy innovation.

The plant, serving as a model for future projects, marks a significant stride toward sustainable energy solutions.
