Noman Ali Creates History as First Pakistani Spinner to Achieve Test Hat-Trick

On January 25, 2025, Noman Ali achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Pakistani spinner to take a hat-trick in Test cricket. This remarkable feat occurred during the second Test between Pakistan and the West Indies at the Multan Cricket Stadium, where he dismissed Justin Greaves, Tevin Imlach, and Kevin Sinclair in consecutive deliveries.

The West Indies, struggling against Pakistan’s spin attack, managed to score only 100 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their first innings. Pakistan’s bowlers dominated the match, with Noman Ali claiming 5 wickets, Sajid Khan taking 2, and debutants Kashif Ali and Abrar contributing with 1 wicket each.

In just one hour, Pakistan’s spinners dismissed seven West Indian batsmen, showcasing their control and precision.

West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite, who chose to bat first, could only score 9 runs, with other top-order batters Mikyle Louis and Justin Greaves managing 4 and 1 run, respectively.

Amir Jangoo, Alick Athanaze, Tevin Imlach, and Kevin Sinclair were all dismissed for ducks. Only Kemar Roach (25) and Kavem Hodge (21) reached double figures before returning to the pavilion.

Pakistan’s captain Shan Masood, prioritizing spin to counter the West Indies, also made a key change to the playing XI by introducing Kashif Ali for his Test debut while resting Khurram Shehzad. The decision paid off, as Pakistan’s bowlers maintained their dominance on the field, leaving West Indies in dire straits.
