Utility Stores Raise Sugar Prices Amid Market Surge

The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has increased the price of sugar by Rs5 per kilogram, raising the cost from Rs140 to Rs145 per kg. The decision to raise prices follows a surge in the open market, though sugar at Utility Stores remains cheaper than market rates.

This price hike comes as the Federal Cabinet recently formed a committee to evaluate the future of Utility Stores operations. The committee, led by the Federal Minister for Industry and Production, has been tasked with submitting a report within a week to decide on the potential closure of USC operations.
