Punjab Govt Extends Clinic on Wheels Program to Gilgit-Baltistan

LAHORE: The Punjab government has expanded its healthcare services beyond provincial limits. It has sent mobile health units under the Clinic on Wheels program to Gilgit-Baltistan.

Officials confirmed that six fully equipped mobile units have been dispatched. These Clinic on Wheels vehicles are part of a gift initiative to support remote healthcare services.

Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir said the units are stocked with essential medicines. He added that the goal is to improve primary healthcare delivery in far-flung regions.

The minister said the Clinic on Wheels program is designed to bring medical services directly to peopleโ€™s doorsteps. He emphasized that remote communities often face difficulty accessing hospitals.

According to him, Punjabโ€™s healthcare model is now expanding beyond the province. The aim is to ensure better treatment access in underserved areas across the country.

He further stated that leadership is committed to improving healthcare in regions like Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. The initiative reflects a broader vision of inclusive public health support.

Officials said the decision to extend the Clinic on Wheels project came after repeated public demand. Many citizens had requested mobile medical services in remote areas.

The mobile units are fully equipped with diagnostic tools and essential medicines. Medical staff will provide basic treatment, consultation, and emergency care services.

Authorities believe the Clinic on Wheels initiative will help reduce pressure on local hospitals. It will also improve early diagnosis and timely treatment in distant regions.

The Punjab government said it is focused on strengthening primary healthcare systems. Mobile services are seen as a practical solution for hard-to-reach populations.

Officials added that the program will continue to expand based on need. More Clinic on Wheels units may be deployed in the future if required.

Health experts have welcomed the move, saying mobile clinics can bridge gaps in rural healthcare. They noted that accessibility remains a major challenge in mountainous areas.
