Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has threatened to launch a nationwide campaign against the ruling coalition, citing stalled negotiations. PTI Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar criticized the government for its lack of commitment to resolving political tensions through dialogue.
The PTI skipped the fourth round of talks with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led coalition on Tuesday, accusing the government of failing to address key issues, including investigations into the May 2023 protests and the November 2024 crackdown on PTI demonstrators.
Akbar announced plans for district-level protests starting February 8, with a large demonstration planned at Islamabad’s D-Chowk. He stated that PTI would no longer negotiate during street protests and hinted at significant leadership changes within the party.
Akbar also accused the federal government of attempting to destabilize PTI by coercing members to switch loyalties but expressed confidence in the party’s resilience and the possible release of Imran Khan this year.
