Benedict Cumberbatch opened up about his emotional experience while filming The Thing With Feathers at the Berlin Film Festival. Playing a widower struggling with loss, the British actor admitted that certain scenes unexpectedly overwhelmed him.

“Odd moments would just sideswipe me,” Cumberbatch shared, recalling a scene where his character packed away his late wife’s clothes. “I’m 48. I’ve lived and experienced grief—it just really struck a chord.” The film follows a grieving father visited by a mysterious crow, forcing his family to confront their emotions.

Cumberbatch, known for Sherlock and Doctor Strange, emphasized that portraying grief required a natural approach. “You just leave it alone, and it happens,” he said, explaining how he avoided forcing emotions during filming.

Meanwhile, Ethan Hawke also made headlines at the festival, revealing he had to wait over a decade to star in Blue Moon. Directed by Richard Linklater, the film follows lyricist Lorenz Hart on the opening night of Oklahoma!. Hawke first received the script 12 years ago but had to wait for the right time to take on the role.
