Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, addressed the UN Security Council regarding the serious issue of enforced disappearances in Indian-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

During the session, Ambassador Ahmad emphasized the worsening situation, noting that India has used recent terrorist incidents as justification to detain over 2,000 Kashmiris.

He disclosed that thousands of unmarked and unidentified graves have been uncovered in the region in recent years, indicating widespread human rights abuses by Indian security forces.

The ambassador accused Indian troops of routinely abducting Kashmiris, subjecting them to torture, and subsequently killing them.

He also highlighted that India has consistently refused to conduct forensic examinations of more than 7,000 mass graves found in occupied Kashmir, raising significant concerns about the lack of accountability.

Ambassador Ahmad condemned India for employing state violence to suppress the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri people for self-determination. He stressed that the crisis of enforced disappearances has escalated into a severe humanitarian catastrophe in the region.
