Aleem Khan Unveils New Development Initiatives for South Punjab

Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) President Abdul Aleem Khan, during his address at the Marka-e-Haq Convention in Layyah on Friday, unveiled several development plans aimed at uplifting South Punjab.

Khan revealed that construction on the Layyah-Taunsa bridge is set to begin shortly, with the project being inaugurated by Rafiqat Gilani. He also confirmed that work on the Multan-Mianwali road will commence soon, as part of broader infrastructure improvements in the region.

Criticizing the historical neglect of South Punjab, Khan stated that while renaming Punjab isn’t necessary, recognizing the differing needs of its northern and southern regions is crucial. He proposed similar administrative distinctions in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan for more effective governance.

He reiterated the IPP’s commitment to making the creation of a South Punjab province a core part of its manifesto, arguing that it would bring about increased job opportunities for locals. Khan pledged that if he were appointed as a minister, he would establish a medical college in Layyah, or ensure its construction by whoever holds the office.

Furthermore, he promised modern roads for the area and stated that once South Punjab becomes a separate province, there would be no need for the current divisional administrative structure. “Layyah will be transformed into a well-developed and attractive region,” he affirmed.
