For the first time in the country’s history, the National Highway Authority (NHA) conducted a public auction of toll plazas, successfully auctioning 68 plazas located across Pakistan. The move is being hailed as a landmark step toward promoting transparency and attracting business investment in the transport sector.
Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan played a key role in initiating the auction process and ensuring its fairness. He emphasized that the goal was to create new business opportunities for investors through a clean and open bidding system.

To maintain transparency, the NHA invited representatives from both print and electronic media to witness the event. A nationwide publicity campaign preceded the auction, ensuring maximum public awareness and participation. The auction was held at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad and began at 10:30am, drawing a large crowd of investors.
The toll plazas auctioned span a wide geographic range, including major sites such as Jamshoro, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Karachi Northern Bypass, and Makran Coastal Highway, among others. These locations cover critical segments of Pakistan’s busiest highways, ensuring significant commercial potential.
Minister Abdul Aleem Khan congratulated NHA officials for executing the event successfully, calling it a new chapter in Pakistan’s road infrastructure management.
