A residential building collapsed on Friday in Karachi’s Lee Market area, triggering an urgent rescue operation as emergency teams rushed to the scene. The incident occurred in the densely populated locality of Lyari, sending shockwaves through the neighborhood.

Rescue officials confirmed that six people, including three women, have so far been pulled out safely from the debris. Lea Market, near which the collapse took place, is a prominent and historic commercial center in Lyari, Karachi. Named after British engineer Measham Lea, the market was established in 1927 and is known for its iconic clock tower and vibrant trade in dairy, fish, meat, and vegetables. Over the decades, it has served as a key economic hub for the city.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the collapse, but residents have raised concerns about the deteriorating condition of many old buildings in the area. Officials have vowed to continue rescue operations until the site is completely cleared.
