United States President Donald Trump has indicated that a Gaza ceasefire deal could be reached as early as next week, following what he described as a “positive spirit” in Hamas’ response to a US-brokered proposal. Speaking aboard Air Force One on Friday, Trump acknowledged the development but noted he had not yet received a full briefing on the latest negotiations.
The President also said he intends to raise concerns related to Iran during upcoming discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump claimed that Iran’s nuclear programme had been “completely dismantled” but warned that Tehran could still resume its nuclear activities if left unchecked.

Hamas, on the other hand, has voiced its willingness to engage in immediate talks to secure a ceasefire in Gaza. The group’s readiness to negotiate marks a potentially significant step forward in ongoing efforts to de-escalate the conflict.
Earlier this month, both the White House and the US State Department emphasized the administration’s focus on ending the Gaza conflict, introducing domestic tax reforms, and enhancing national security. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reaffirmed Trump’s commitment to ending hostilities and recovering hostages held by Hamas, crediting his diplomatic efforts for the recent delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Leavitt added that President Trump is maintaining direct engagement with Israeli leaders to coordinate both peace initiatives and humanitarian assistance. She stressed that the administration’s aim is a “swift and peaceful resolution” to the ongoing crisis.
