Warner Bros. has released the highly anticipated first official trailer for Mortal Kombat 2, the sequel to the successful 2021 Mortal Kombat movie. The new film is set to hit theaters on October 24, bringing more action, more characters, and an expanded storyline to fans of the iconic fighting video game series.

The original Mortal Kombat movie introduced several fan-favorite characters from the video game, and Mortal Kombat 2 will bring even more familiar faces to the screen. One of the most exciting additions is Karl Urban, known for his role in The Boys, who joins the cast as Johnny Cage. A beloved character in the Mortal Kombat franchise, Johnny Cage is a Hollywood star and skilled fighter, adding a new level of star power to the sequel.

Other new cast members include Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, the deadly princess who wields steel fans, and Tati Gabrielle, who plays Jade, Kitana’s childhood friend with a bo staff. Damon Herriman portrays the dark wizard Quan Chi, while bodybuilder Martyn Ford steps into the role of Shao Kahn, the evil emperor from the Outworld dimension. The cast also features Ana Thu Nguyen as Queen Sindel, Kitana’s mother, and Desmond Chiam as King Jerrod, Kitana’s father. CJ Bloomfield will take on the role of Baraka, the fanged fighter with retractable claws.

Returning stars from the first Mortal Kombat movie include Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, and Mehcad Brooks as Jax Briggs, among others. The sequel will also bring back familiar villains like Shang Tsung, played by Chin Han, and Sub-Zero, portrayed by Joe Taslim. Hiroyuki Sanada and Max Huang return as Scorpion and Kung Lao, respectively.

Directed once again by Simon McQuoid, who made his directorial debut with the first Mortal Kombat movie, Mortal Kombat 2 promises to deliver even more action-packed battles, intense rivalries, and explosive moments for fans of the franchise. With an expanded cast and more iconic characters, this sequel is shaping up to be an exciting continuation of the Mortal Kombat movie series.
