Hulk Hogan, Wrestling Legend, Passes Away at 71

Professional wrestling icon Hulk Hogan has passed away at the age of 71, TMZ Sports confirmed on Thursday. Emergency medical teams were called to Hogan’s Clearwater home early in the morning after reports of a cardiac arrest.

Authorities received the call at 9:51 AM, and first responders from Clearwater Fire & Rescue quickly arrived at the scene. Hogan was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

This sad news comes just weeks after Hogan’s wife, Sky, had denied rumors of his hospitalization. In a public statement, she assured fans that Hogan was recovering well after recent surgeries, including a neck procedure in May. Despite some reports claiming he was on his “deathbed,” those close to Hogan emphasized that he was only managing post-operative symptoms.

Hulk Hogan’s Iconic Legacy

Hogan, born Terry Bollea, became a global legend, changing the face of professional wrestling. His rise to fame began in 1984 when he defeated the Iron Sheik to win the World Heavyweight Championship, marking the beginning of the “Hulkamania” era. Hogan’s vibrant persona, signature bandana, and trademark moustache made him a beloved figure in the world of sports entertainment.

In 1996, Hogan shocked the wrestling world by turning heel and becoming “Hollywood Hogan” as part of the New World Order (NWO), a move that further solidified his status in pop culture. Hogan’s unforgettable matches included his showdown with Andre the Giant at WrestleMania III and his famous battle with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at WrestleMania X8 in 2002.

Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. Though his induction was revoked in 2015 due to a scandal, he was reinstated in 2020 as part of the NWO faction.

Life Beyond Wrestling

Beyond the ring, Hogan made a name for himself in Hollywood, starring in films like Rocky III, No Holds Barred, and Suburban Commando. He also became a reality TV star with the VH1 show Hogan Knows Best, which followed his family life with then-wife Linda and their children.

Despite enduring numerous surgeries from injuries sustained in the ring, Hogan remained active throughout his life. In May, he launched the Real American Freestyle wrestling league, with the first event scheduled for August 30 on Fox Nation. Hogan also made waves in 2024 with a notable appearance at the Republican National Convention.

Hulk Hogan’s impact on wrestling, entertainment, and pop culture is undeniable, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered for generations.
