The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have launched Pakistan’s first-ever fully functional “Online Women Police Station.” This initiative aims to provide 24/7 protection and support for women, children, and vulnerable individuals in society. With just a call to helpline 1815, victims can now access immediate justice, safety, and legal assistance.
The “Online Women Police Station” is designed to handle a range of issues, including domestic abuse, gender-based violence, and other crimes affecting women and children.
A dedicated helpline, 1815, has been set up, allowing women to report complaints, seek legal advice, or receive urgent help without the need to visit a physical police station.
Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, emphasized the convenience offered by the new system. The Online Women Police Station is equipped with video calling and online chat support, making it easier for women to register First Information Reports (FIRs) from the comfort of their homes. This eliminates the need to go to a police station, enhancing accessibility and safety.
The Online Women Police Station also operates with a First Responder Unit, which can reach the complainant’s location in just five to seven minutes. If immediate resolution is not possible, female investigation officers from the station ensure that prompt action is taken to ensure justice is served.
IG Rizvi further explained that all call handlers, responders, and investigating officers on the 1815 helpline are female police personnel. Additionally, calls to the general 15 helpline are automatically redirected to 1815 using artificial intelligence, ensuring that no distress call goes unanswered.
The helpline operates round the clock, providing constant support to individuals in crisis. The initiative is integrated with the “Police Station-on-Wheels” system, which can be dispatched alongside first responders when necessary.
This launch marks a significant step towards providing rapid, dignified, and technology-driven solutions to gender-based crimes, ensuring that every victim is heard and supported.
