Pakistan has officially decided not to participate in any sports events held in India, citing security reasons. The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has imposed a strict ban on all national sports federations, prohibiting them from agreeing to participate in competitions in India. This decision was confirmed through a formal notification issued by the PSB.
The notification clearly states that no sports federation in Pakistan will be allowed to take part in any sports event in India without the prior permission of the PSB.
It further emphasizes that federations must consult with the PSB before making any decisions about participating in events held in India. This move follows a PSB Board meeting held on July 23, where the decision was made.
This ban will affect Pakistan’s national hockey team, preventing them from participating in the 2025 Men’s Asia Hockey Cup. The event is scheduled to take place in Rajgir, India, from August 27 to September 7, 2025.
The PSB has not specified how long the ban will last, but it signals a firm stance on security concerns. Pakistan’s withdrawal from international sports events in India is expected to have significant implications, especially for athletes who have been preparing for upcoming tournaments.
The PSB’s decision reflects the ongoing security issues between the two countries and highlights the need for careful consideration when sending athletes to regions with potential risks.
