Son of Sardaar 2 Opens to Modest Box Office Numbers, How Much Did It Earn on Day One?

Ajay Devgn’s latest film, Son of Sardaar 2, has had a modest opening at the box office. The film earned approximately ₹6.75 crore on its first day, according to Sacnilk. Despite the star power of Ajay Devgn and the film’s wide release across major cities, the film struggled to draw large crowds.

In comparison to Ajay’s earlier hit Raid 2, Son of Sardaar 2 performed much slower. Raid 2 had a much stronger debut, collecting ₹19.25 crore on its opening day alone. Released on a national holiday, Raid 2 saw a high occupancy rate of over 34% and benefited from positive word-of-mouth, eventually surpassing ₹100 crore within days of release.

Box Office Performance: Son of Sardaar 2

Son of Sardaar 2 saw lower occupancy rates across major cities compared to Raid 2. In cities like Mumbai and Pune, the film averaged around 14-16% occupancy. However, some cities performed better. For instance, Lucknow saw an impressive 33.33% occupancy overall, with evening shows reaching 50%. Jaipur also performed strongly with 32.67% occupancy, reaching 43% during the evening shows.

The National Capital Region (NCR) posted good numbers as well, with a 23.33% overall occupancy, including a noticeable increase during the afternoon and evening shows. Chennai, despite having only 52 shows, recorded 20.5% occupancy, mostly driven by afternoon and evening screenings.

Underperforming Markets for Son of Sardaar 2

On the other hand, Son of Sardaar 2 struggled in certain markets. Chandigarh (15.67%), Bhopal (13.67%), Hyderabad (13%), and Pune (13.67%) saw more subdued performances. The film also faced minimal interest in Surat (5%) and Ahmedabad (9.33%), despite having numerous shows scheduled.

While the film’s opening may have been underwhelming, it remains to be seen whether Son of Sardaar 2 can pick up momentum in the coming days.
