Fawad Khan, Vaani Kapoor’s ‘Abir Gulaal’ Set for August 29 Global Release, Except India

The Bollywood movie Abir Gulaal, starring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, is finally set for a global release on August 29. The film was originally scheduled to hit cinemas on April 22, but tensions between India and Pakistan forced the makers to postpone its release.

Promotions for Abir Gulaal had begun earlier this year, with the cast launching the music album in Dubai. However, political developments between the two countries brought the project to a standstill for four months.

According to Indian media reports, the film will not release in India due to the ongoing ban on Pakistani artists. Instead, it will follow the release pattern of films like Sardaar Ji 3 and Chal Mera Putt 4, which skipped the Indian market but found strong success overseas.

A Bollywood Hungama insider revealed: “The makers of Abir Gulaal will adopt the same strategy as Sardaar Ji 3. That film, starring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, was not released in India but earned big at the international box office. Similarly, Chal Mera Putt 4 released only abroad and became a major hit.”

Industry observers believe that the absence of an Indian release could boost the film’s overseas performance, as seen in previous cases. However, whether Abir Gulaal can match or exceed the success of its predecessors remains to be seen.

Pakistani audiences are also expected to welcome the film, given Fawad Khan’s massive fan following. With its star power and cross-border appeal, the upcoming release is already generating significant buzz in international markets.
