KP Government Announces Rs75,000 Aid Package for Displaced Bajaur Families

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has unveiled an aid package to support families displaced from Bajaur amid ongoing security operations.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur confirmed the decision, stressing that while the provincial government does not support forced displacement, it considers assisting affected people a key responsibility.

Under the announced aid package, families who voluntarily left their homes due to law and order concerns will receive Rs50,000 each. Once targeted operations conclude, an additional Rs25,000 will be provided to every displaced family.

The development comes as security forces conduct operations against nearly 800 militants in Bajaur district, which has a population of around 300,000. The offensive has led to the displacement of more than 40,000 residents.

Officials revealed that a peace jirga between local elders and militants failed after the elders demanded the militants vacate the area and accept two other conditions.

Authorities estimate around 300 militants are present in two areas of Mamond tehsil, while over 350 are active in Khyber. More than 80 percent of them are believed to be Afghan nationals.

Commissioner Malakand Division Abid Wazir confirmed that arrangements for the displaced have been finalized. A total of 107 government buildings in Khar are being used for accommodation, and a tent village is being set up at Khar Sports Complex.

The aid package aims to provide immediate relief to the affected families while ensuring their basic needs are met until they can return home. The provincial government has assured that all possible measures will be taken to support residents during this challenging time.
