The case of Journalist Khawar Hussain, whose body was found in his car in Sanghar, has taken a new direction. A fact-finding committee has released its preliminary report, suggesting suicide based on forensic, medical, and CCTV evidence.
Initial Investigation
According to investigators, Journalist Khawar Hussain reset his mobile phone to factory settings before his death. All records were deleted, and the SIM card was removed. Sources confirmed that his final call was made to a water tanker driver near Hyderabad. After that, his phone showed no further activity.
CCTV footage revealed that he entered a hotel parking lot at 8:15 PM. Later, he visited a nearby tire shop, where he retrieved his phone PIN and removed the SIM. Investigators believe he ended his life between 10:05 AM and 10:15 AM inside his car.
Forensic and Police Findings
Police recovered his licensed pistol from the car. Forensic tests confirmed the weapon was fired inside the vehicle. DIG Shaheed Benazirabad Faisal Bashir Memon said no evidence of foul play had been found so far.
Following postmortem formalities, his body was first shifted to Civil Hospital Hyderabad. Due to a power outage, the hospital declined to keep it in cold storage. It was then placed in the postmortem room before being moved to Hilal-e-Ahmer mortuary.
Family and Government Response
Hussain’s brother-in-law, Zubair Ali, said the family did not know about his visit to Sanghar. He also stated that Hussain had no known enmity.
The Sindh Home Department has set up a high-level inquiry committee, including two DIGs, Sanghar SSP, and a senior officer. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and sought a detailed report.
Funeral prayers for Journalist Khawar Hussain will be offered after Zuhr at his ancestral graveyard in Sanghar.
