The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) to enable improved media coverage of the FBR’s significant initiatives/events, including the Chairman’s official engagements.
According to the FBR’s SOP issued on Thursday, any Wing requiring media coverage of any event involving the presence of the Chairman FBR/Members (e.g. seminars, conferences, meetings with International Development Partners, trade bodies, chambers of commerce and industry, foreign delegates, etc.) should notify the PR Wing well in advance to ensure proper media coverage and other related arrangements.

Concerned Wings must send their Press Releases (in English and Urdu)/Rebuttals/Photographs/Tweets/Tickers to the Public Relations Wing.
After proper editing/proofreading, the above will be forwarded to Member PR for approval before being shared with the media. Protocol & Coordination Officer to the Chairman will coordinate all of the Chairman’s engagements when media coverage is desired.
FBR field formations and support organisations (both IRS and Customs) are responsible for managing media coverage of their initiatives/events on their own. However, prior to dissemination to the media, authorisation of media coverage of policy topics and key events should be sought from FBR (Hqrs).
An exception will be granted in cases when the field formation has accomplished something significant enough to justify publication by FBR official handles. After receiving permission from the relevant Member Ops, the Chief Ops (IRS/Customs) should formally transmit all such cases to the Chief PR in the manner provided above.
The responsible Wing will be held accountable for any delays in transmitting publicity material to the PR Wing that result in non-coverage of an event, according to FBR.
