FIA Introduces AI-Based App to Improve Immigration and Stop Human Smuggling

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has developed an artificial intelligence-based application to improve immigration procedures and control human smuggling.

According to details, FIA Director General Raja Riffat Mukhtar briefed Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi about the new project during a meeting at the agency’s headquarters. The pilot phase of the app will be launched at Islamabad International Airport.

Minister Naqvi praised the initiative and said the application will help reduce human smuggling and save passengers from long queues at airports. He also directed immediate provision of funds to upgrade the agency’s IT system.

During the visit, Naqvi ordered the upgradation of FIA headquarters and asked the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to hand over newly allotted land for the FIA Academy without delay. He emphasized the need to strengthen the agency’s training facilities to prepare staff for modern challenges.

Highlighting the shortage of human resources, the interior minister instructed officials to begin recruitment on already approved vacant posts at the earliest. He assured full support and resources but stressed that the agency must also show better performance.

Naqvi added that technology-driven reforms will help improve efficiency and transparency in immigration procedures. He said the new app, once implemented across airports, will make travel easier and safer for passengers while tightening checks against illegal activities.

The FIA is expected to gradually expand the use of artificial intelligence tools in its operations. Officials believe that the move will enhance security, improve monitoring, and play a key role in stopping organized human trafficking networks.

With these reforms, FIA aims to strengthen its role as the country’s main investigative and border control authority.
