The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has launched an inquiry against well-known fashion designer Maria B. The action comes after a formal complaint was filed against her by Naeem Butt, also known as Seema Butt.
According to reports, the complaint accuses Maria B of spreading negative propaganda against the transgender community on social media. The complainant stated that her remarks had hurt the sentiments of the community and demanded accountability.
Following the complaint, the NCCIA has officially summoned Maria B on August 26. The investigation will review her statements and the content she shared online.
It is important to note that the designer recently issued a video statement in which she claimed that a transgender party had taken place in Lahore. Along with her statement, she also shared footage of the event. In her message, Maria B urged the Punjab government to take strict action regarding the matter.
The NCCIA is now looking into whether her remarks and shared content violated any laws related to cybercrime or hate speech. Authorities have confirmed that the inquiry is in its early stages and no final decision has been made yet.
Maria B is one of Pakistanโs most prominent fashion designers, known for her clothing brand and strong presence on social media. However, this case has drawn public attention and sparked debate on freedom of expression, social responsibility, and the rights of marginalized communities.
The outcome of the NCCIA inquiry will determine whether further legal proceedings will be initiated against the designer. Until then, the matter remains under official review.
