MDCAT Exam Postponed Nationwide Due to Floods; New Date Announced

The Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) has been rescheduled across Pakistan due to the ongoing flood situation. Authorities confirmed that the exam, earlier planned for October 5, will now take place on Sunday, October 26.

Exam rescheduled for student relief

According to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), the decision was made on the directions of Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal. He stated that the step was taken to support students affected by floods and ensure they are not deprived of equal opportunities.

The PMDC added that the new date was finalized after consulting universities nationwide. This was done to make sure all stakeholders agreed with the revised schedule.

From October 5 to October 26

The MDCAT was originally set for October 5. However, widespread flooding has disrupted travel and preparation for thousands of candidates. By shifting the date to October 26, authorities hope to give students more time and ease the difficulties caused by natural disasters.

Minister’s remarks

Health Minister Mustafa Kamal emphasized that student welfare remains the government’s top priority. He said the decision was made solely in the interest of students facing hardships. The minister also assured that the government is closely monitoring the flood situation.

Exam arrangements across regions

Under the revised schedule, candidates from Punjab will take the MDCAT under the University of Health Sciences, Lahore. In Sindh, the exam will be conducted by IBA University, Sukkur.

Khyber Medical University will oversee the exam in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The University of Balochistan, Quetta, will handle candidates from Balochistan.

Meanwhile, students in the federal capital and Azad Jammu and Kashmir will appear at Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad. This university will also conduct the test for candidates from Gilgit-Baltistan and those based in Riyadh.

The authorities have urged students to stay updated through official PMDC notifications and prepare according to the new schedule.
