ISLAMABAD β President Asif Ali Zardari departed on Friday for a 10-day official visit to China, scheduled from September 12 to 21, on the invitation of the Chinese government.
According to the presidentβs spokesperson, Asif Ali Zardari will visit Chengdu, Shanghai, and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. During his stay, he will hold meetings with provincial leaders and discuss a wide range of issues.
The discussions will focus on strengthening Pakistan-China bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on economic cooperation, trade expansion, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Both sides are also expected to review future connectivity initiatives and enhance collaboration at multilateral platforms.
Officials said the visit reflects the strong tradition of high-level exchanges between Pakistan and China. It will reaffirm mutual support on core issues, boost economic ties, and highlight the shared commitment of both nations to regional peace and stability.
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing. Both leaders expressed satisfaction over the progress of the Pakistan-China partnership and reiterated their commitment to further strengthen strategic cooperation.
The prime minister thanked China for its consistent support to Pakistanβs sovereignty, economic development, and territorial integrity. He also praised Chinaβs transformation under President Xi Jinpingβs leadership and said Pakistan aimed to learn from Chinaβs success in governance and economic growth.
President Asif Ali Zardariβs visit is seen as another step to deepen cooperation between the two long-standing allies. The meetings are expected to advance discussions on CPEC projects, trade partnerships, and new avenues of regional connectivity.
Pakistan and China have repeatedly reaffirmed their iron-clad friendship, calling their partnership a model of mutual trust and cooperation in the region.
