LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has moved to register FIRs against the owners, sponsors, and developers of two private Housing Schemes over alleged violations of housing regulations and development laws.
According to official documents, the action has been taken under the LDA Act, 1975, and the LDA Private Housing Scheme Rules, 2014. The authority claims both projects failed to address important sewerage issues despite receiving repeated notices.
The LDA has sent formal applications to Green Town Police Station, requesting legal action against those responsible for managing the two Housing Schemes.
Officials said the main concern is the failure to provide proper sewerage disposal systems. The authority believes the continued delay has violated the legal requirements set for private housing developments.
One of the cases involves a housing society located near Block D/2 in IEP Town Sector A on Defence Road. According to the LDA, the management did not take corrective action even after receiving several notices regarding its sewerage system.
The second case relates to a nearby private land subdivision. The authority alleges that the developers also failed to resolve sewerage-related problems despite multiple warnings.
In addition to sewerage concerns, the LDA has raised objections over an alleged illegal extension within the subdivision. Officials claim a boundary wall was constructed on land reserved for a public building.
The authority further stated that the subdivision had not received approval from the competent authority before carrying out the development work.
Chief Metropolitan Planner Riaz Hussain Goraya confirmed that FIR applications had already been submitted to the police. He said the requests follow the legal procedure outlined in LDA regulations.
Responding to questions about the inclusion of Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Tariq Bashir Cheema in the applications, Goraya explained that the law requires FIR requests to name the owner, sponsor, and developer of the project.
Meanwhile, Tariq Bashir Cheema said he was not aware of the FIR applications before they became public. However, he acknowledged that he owns the land involved in the case.
Cheema added that he had already handed the land over to a developer for the project. He also stated that the housing society’s sewerage infrastructure had been installed.
According to Cheema, discussions are currently underway to connect the existing sewerage network with a nearby sewer line. He suggested that efforts are being made to resolve the issue.
The LDA has not announced whether any additional enforcement action will follow if the concerns remain unresolved. The police will now review the applications before deciding on the next legal steps.
The latest action reflects the authority’s continued efforts to enforce development regulations across private Housing Schemes in Lahore. Officials say approved infrastructure and proper sewerage systems are essential for public safety and urban planning.
