Motorcycle and Car Sales Show Strong Growth in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – Motorcycle and car sales in Pakistan recorded significant growth in August 2025, reflecting improving market conditions and rising consumer demand.

According to data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), sales of motorcycles and three-wheelers reached 148,063 units in August. This marks a sharp 42 percent increase compared to the same month last year and a 19 percent rise month-on-month.

Figures from Topline Securities revealed that overall sales during the first two months of the fiscal year (July–August FY26) stood at 273,000 units. This represents a 44 percent year-on-year increase, highlighting the resilience of the two-wheeler market.

Analysts attribute the strong performance to easing inflationary pressures, growing rural demand, and affordable financing schemes. Motorcycles remain a more economical choice than cars, making them vital for both personal and commercial transport across urban and semi-urban areas. Experts believe the upward trend in motorcycle and car sales will likely continue through FY26, supported by affordability and the increasing need for cost-effective mobility.

Meanwhile, car sales also showed improvement. PAMA data indicated that 7,135 cars were sold in July 2025, the opening month of FY26. This was a 21.8 percent jump compared to 5,857 units sold in July 2024.

Segment-wise, Honda Civic and City sales increased to 1,143 units, up from 790 units last year. Toyota Corolla and Yaris sales grew even faster, rising by 118.6 percent to 2,418 units compared to 1,106 units in the same period last year.

Industry watchers say the combined growth in motorcycle and car sales signals consumer confidence returning to the auto sector, despite challenges posed by inflation and last year’s devastating floods.
