Actor Fawad Khan and Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor’s much-awaited film Aabeer Gulaal was released worldwide on September 12, 2025. However, the film did not release in India, sparking questions among fans. Reports now suggest that Aabeer Gulaal may finally reach Indian cinemas on September 26, though no official confirmation has been made.
According to Bollywood Hungama, the producers of Indian Stories Limited (UK) are planning the Indian release two weeks after the global launch.
A source revealed that the team believes the film’s simple and sweet love story has the potential to attract audiences across India. With no other major releases scheduled for September 26, the makers expect Aabeer Gulaal to enjoy a solo release if the plan moves forward.
Still, neither the filmmakers nor the lead actors have officially announced the Indian release date. Fans remain eager for confirmation, especially as this film marks Fawad Khan’s return to Indian cinema after nearly eight years.
The film’s journey has been marked by controversies. Originally set to release in India on May 9, 2025, Aabeer Gulaal faced delays following the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s subsequent Operation Sindoor. Fawad Khan’s remarks criticizing the operation as a “shameful attack” fueled backlash, leading to demands for a ban on Pakistani actors. This further complicated the film’s release prospects in India.
Despite political hurdles, the romantic drama released internationally on September 12. Interestingly, its launch coincided with the build-up to the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup cricket clash on September 14, which helped boost attention toward the film.
Directed by Aarti S Bagdi and produced by Vivek B Agrawal, Raza Namazi, and Firuzi Khan, Aabeer Gulaal features music by Amit Trivedi with lyrics by Kumaar. The film’s global reception will now play a crucial role in determining whether it secures a confirmed release date in India.
