Nearly 18 years after their debut together in Om Shanti Om, Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are set to reunite for their sixth film, a high-octane action-thriller titled King, directed by Siddharth Anand.
The announcement has excited Bollywood fans worldwide, as the duo’s on-screen chemistry has consistently drawn audiences and box office success. Deepika shared the news on Instagram, posting a behind-the-scenes glimpse and a heartfelt message: “He taught me that the experience of making a movie, and the people you make it with, matter far more than its success.” This tribute highlights the importance of Om Shanti Om, which launched Deepika’s career.
Siddharth Anand, known for directing action blockbusters like Pathaan and War, helms King, which is already one of the most anticipated projects of 2026. While plot details are scarce, reports suggest Shah Rukh will take on a gritty and intense role, unlike his previous performances. Deepika is expected to portray a strong, action-oriented character, adding depth to their dynamic partnership first seen in Om Shanti Om.
This marks the sixth collaboration between the stars, following Om Shanti Om (2007), Chennai Express (2013), Happy New Year (2014), Pathaan (2023), and Jawan (2023), in which Deepika appeared in an extended cameo. Their pairing has become a fan favorite and a proven box office draw.
King also highlights India’s growing trend of big-budget action films with strong leads and global appeal. Alongside Shah Rukh and Deepika, the film features Rani Mukerji in a comeback role, veteran actors like Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, and rising stars including Raghav Juyal and Jaideep Ahlawat. Shah Rukh’s daughter, Suhana Khan, is set to make her first major theatrical appearance following her OTT debut in The Archies.
