The 22nd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), held in Nanning, Guangxi from September 17 to 21, welcomed more than 3,200 enterprises from 60 countries. Among its highlights was the success story of a Pakistani restaurant that gained strong recognition during the international event.
Barakah Pakistani Restaurant, owned by Muhammad Umar Javed and operated under Guangxi Bismilla Catering Co., Ltd., reported record business throughout the expo. According to the owner, takeaway orders surged, with nearly one hundred meals delivered daily to the exhibition center. In the evenings, the restaurant was filled with guests, including exhibitors from Pakistan and other countries, eager to enjoy authentic Pakistani food.
This restaurant thrives not only on its cuisine but also its cultural atmosphere. Opened in 2021, Barakah provides an immersive dining experience with Pakistani music, dรฉcor, and handicrafts. The walls showcase paintings of mosques, bustling streets, and iconic landscapes. Bronze and onyx ornaments, along with embroidered textiles, add to the ambiance.
โWe want visitors to feel like they are in Pakistan,โ Umar explained. Imported spices, seasonings, and original basmati rice ensure authentic flavors. Signature dishes include Butter Chicken, Shawarma in beef, chicken, and cheese options, and the ever-popular Biryani.
The restaurant thrives among both international guests and local Chinese customers, who praise its distinctive taste and genuine recipes. Its growing reputation demonstrates the power of food in connecting cultures.
Umar noted that the Expo was not just about trade and investment, but also cultural exchange. โIt gave us the chance to share our heritage and cuisine with a global audience,โ he said.
The eventโs success highlighted how food businesses, like Barakah, can flourish when given an international platform. By combining authentic flavors with cultural richness, the restaurant thrives as a symbol of Pakistanโs hospitality abroad.
