Paris, September 22, 2025 – Ousmane Dembele has been named the winner of the 2025 men’s Ballon d’Or. The Paris Saint-Germain forward received football’s biggest individual award during a ceremony in Paris.
Dembele, aged 28, had a memorable season as he guided PSG to four major titles. He was central to their first ever UEFA Champions League victory. The French champions also lifted Ligue 1, the French Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.
Across all competitions, Dembele scored 35 goals and provided 16 assists in 53 matches. His performances in Europe, especially in the later stages, were crucial for PSG’s success.
The strongest rival to Dembele was 18-year-old Lamine Yamal from Barcelona. The young star had an impressive year but narrowly missed out. Dembele’s consistency in big matches helped him take the award.
At the ceremony, Dembele was emotional and thanked his family and teammates. He also praised the PSG staff for supporting him through his journey. Despite recovering from an injury, he attended the event to collect the honour.
With this achievement, Dembele became the first French player since Karim Benzema in 2022 to win the Ballon d’Or. He is now the sixth Frenchman in history to secure this award.
