Jam Kamal Directs Establishment Of New Expo Centers

Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal has stressed the urgent need to expand Pakistanโ€™s exhibition infrastructure. He directed officials to prioritize the establishment of an Expo-cum-Display Center in Islamabad and secure land for a new Quetta Expo Centre.

The minister issued these instructions during a detailed briefing at the Ministry of Commerce by the CEO of Pakistan Expo Centre (Private) Limited. The plan aims to build a nationwide network of modern exhibition and display facilities, helping local industry, boosting exports, and attracting foreign investment.

Jam Kamal said Islamabad must be the first priority, with a world-class venue for trade and exhibitions. He suggested potential locations within the Pakistan Sports Complex, as existing facilities there could reduce time and costs.

The second focus, he added, is to identify suitable land near Quetta airport to ensure easy access for foreign visitors and business delegations. The initial design will be prepared through open bidding, while funding will come from the Export Development Fund, the Public Sector Development Programme, or PC-1 approvals.

The CEO informed that Sialkot and Faisalabad have already offered land for smaller display centers. Proposals from Sukkur, Hyderabad, and Quetta are also under review. These facilities will follow international models, offering modular and multipurpose halls to host exhibitions, industry events, and business meetings.

The meeting also reviewed plans for a new Board of Directors for Pakistan Expo Centre (Private) Limited to improve governance and decision-making. Jam Kamal assured full policy and administrative support to accelerate the projects. He also instructed the Secretary Industries to provide detailed provincial priorities within a week.

This initiative highlights the governmentโ€™s strategy to modernize trade infrastructure, beginning with Islamabad and Quetta while extending to smaller cities. The aim is to energize local industry, create new trade opportunities, and strengthen Pakistanโ€™s global competitiveness.
