Delhi is preparing for a grand Dussehra celebration in 2025, with Bollywood actor Bobby Deol set to take center stage. The star has been invited by the Luv Kush Ramlila Committee to perform the traditional burning of Ravana’s effigy at the iconic Red Fort on October 2.
In a video shared by the organizers, Bobby Deol expressed his excitement in his signature style. He invited people to join him for the celebration, calling it a special moment for Delhi’s famous Ramlila.
According to the committee president Arjun Kumar, the actor’s participation will add a touch of star power and make this year’s festival even more memorable.
The event has also drawn attention for another reason. Actress Poonam Pandey has been chosen to play Mandodari, Ravana’s wife. Her casting has sparked objections from certain political and religious groups, including the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bharatiya Janata Party. Critics questioned her suitability for the role, but the organizers have stood firm.
Arjun Kumar explained that Poonam Pandey herself approached the committee for the role. He added that art should be respected and that every artist deserves a chance to perform.
Pandey, who has worked in both Hindi and Punjabi films, will share the stage with actor Arya Babbar, who returns this year as Ravana. She reached Delhi on September 26 and is attending rehearsals scheduled for September 29 and 30.
With Bobby Deol leading the symbolic effigy burning and Poonam Pandey taking on a central role, the Red Fort Ramlila is expected to draw large crowds. The mix of tradition, celebrity presence, and controversy has already made Bobby Deol Ravana Dahan 2025 one of the most talked-about highlights of this festive season.
