The Pak-German economic coop received a boost on Monday as Ina Lepel, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Pakistan, met with Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb at the Finance Division.
During the meeting, the finance minister welcomed the ambassador and extended his best wishes. He assured Germany of Pakistanโs continued engagement to further deepen bilateral cooperation. Senator Aurangzeb also thanked the German government for its valuable technical and financial assistance and emphasized the importance of investment by German companies in various sectors of Pakistanโs economy.
The minister provided an overview of Pakistanโs economic progress, highlighting recent improvements in key indices. He briefed Ambassador Lepel on the ongoing IMF review mission and Pakistanโs achievements in meeting quantitative and structural benchmarks under the program. He also spoke about the devastation caused by recent floods and the broader challenges posed by climate change.
Senator Aurangzeb stressed the governmentโs commitment to fostering an investment-friendly environment. He noted that the Prime Minister supports private sector-led growth and assured full facilitation for foreign investors, including German firms. He highlighted measures to ease the repatriation of profits and dividends, while addressing other related concerns.
Ambassador Lepel recalled her previous assignment in Pakistan from 2013 to 2015 and expressed fond memories of her tenure. She discussed opportunities to further promote bilateral trade and investment and reaffirmed Germanyโs support for Pakistanโs efforts toward sustainable economic growth.
Both sides emphasized their determination to strengthen the Pak-German economic coop and explore new avenues for trade, investment, and development partnership. Analysts say the meeting underscores the commitment of both countries to enhance private sector participation and attract foreign investment.
